VOLUNTEERS
Without volunteers, the Lentemarathon cannot exist. Would you like to get involved in this sporting event? We are looking for volunteers for the course, for the race secretariat and for the start and finish. We provide coffee/tea, a packed lunch and a drink afterwards.
ROLES
We are looking for volunteers for many different positions. If you would like to come and help us, you can choose one of the positions listed here. Please indicate your 2 preferred functions when you sign up and we will do our best to assign you to this function.
Event traffic controllers, as the word suggests, regulate traffic around the course. But they also provide local residents and passers-by with information and keep an eye on the runners. You will be provided with the necessary instruction and tools beforehand and on the day itself.
To act as an event traffic controller, you must take a free online instruction. If you get enough of the test questions right, you will receive an instruction certificate that is valid for one year. This allows you to work as an event traffic controller at other events as well.
You may be given different posts throughout the day. Own transport, preferably bicycle or moped, is useful.
As a volunteer at the start and finish line, you will be involved in a number of different tasks. These include: supervising start and finish area, helping at the turning point of the Family Run, holding up finish ribbon, handing out medals and water, etc.
Helping with clean-up is also part of this task.
For the volunteer reporting center, we are looking for 2 volunteers. You will receive the volunteers and register that they are there. You provide each volunteer with a packed lunch. You will also take care of issuing and collecting materials.
The registration office is open on Sundays.
As a volunteer in the race secretariat, your duties include providing runners with their race numbers, handling any payments, entering data into a computer and serving as an enquirer.
Helping clean up is also part of the job.
The work is not difficult, but some computer skills and accuracy are required.
We are looking for enthusiastic photographers to volunteer and take beautiful pictures of all the activities at and around the event.
Are you familiar with various social media channels and enjoy posting things? Then come join our team of volunteers as a social media administrator! As a Social Media volunteer, you will keep people at home and on the road informed of all the developments during the Lentemarathon via our social media. Who is the winner on the 5 km? Or which company is running in the 10 km and how many children with their parents are running in the Family Run?
It is an atmospheric event. From all our volunteers we therefore ask a flexible attitude and the willingness to do different tasks.
In addition, we are specifically looking for volunteers with no stated preference for a particular task. People we can deploy where needed. Because a place is very busy. Because the task is needed on the spot. To fill the gaps in the staffing.
And also for tasks that are not further described here, because we only need one or two people for them.
Most of this work will be at the event site at start/finish.
Own transportation in the form of a bicycle or scooter may come in handy.
You will not be assigned to this position as an event traffic controller unless you have indicated that you want to and have taken the instruction.
Cyclists
The pack of runners is accompanied at the front and back by cyclists. They relay to the traffic controllers the runners’ passages. Do you have good fitness? Can you cycle 20km/h for a long time? Or do you just have a lot of patience? Then this is something for you.
Waterpost
One waterpost has been set up along the course. This is where the 10K and 15K pass. Building up the stand, handing out water and tidying up are part of this task. You will work together in a small team.
Course preparation
The runners will be guided in the right direction by means of barriers, tape and arrows on the road surface. Some of this will be prepared early in the morning. Are you an early bird? Sign up. You can do this task before doing any of the other tasks on the course.
